Operating Engineers 324 holds open house for job seekers

GLADSTONE, Mich. (WLUC) – Wednesday night Operating Engineers 324 held an open house at their training facility in Gladstone.

Sponsored by Gladstone and Rapid River schools, the goal is to show students their career options and the availability of training on a local level.

Rapid River / Gladstone Superintendent Jay Kulbertis spoke about how the demand for skilled trades training is rising among students seeking solid careers.

The training center offers multiple program that allow a student to begin working and earning while learning.

Lee Graham is the executive director for OE324 and he spoke about how there is a lot more to heavy equipment operating than many people think.

“So we’re really trying to get the interest of the students out there today. With all the equipment that’s out there today, with the technology between GPS, drones, autonomous equipment. That’s exciting these students.”
