DETROIT –– Today, Operating Engineers 324 praised Gov. Rick Snyder for appointing Treasurer and Business Agent Jim Arini to the Board of Boiler Rules. The 11-member state panel formulates definitions and rules for the safe construction, installation, inspection, and repair of boilers in Michigan. Arini will represent organized labor on the board.
“This is a fitting position for Jim Arini after his many years of service and I know he will serve the board with integrity,” said Business Manager and General Vice President Douglas W. Stockwell. “Jim has tirelessly worked to stress the importance of boiler safety, especially to our kids in their schools. And he’s shown incredible dedication in elevating the Operating Engineers 324’s Stationary Career Center in Detroit, which has become an integral part of the trade and the community.”
Arini holds a City of Detroit unlimited first class refrigeration operator’s license, a City of Detroit high pressure boiler operator’s license, and associate’s degree in climate control technology from Macomb Community College. He replaces Frank Weichert.
“I am honored that the Governor has asked me to serve on such an important board and I look forward to representing the men and women of organized labor,” said Arini. “Operating Engineers 324 has always been dedicated to offering top-notch training in boiler safety and repair to keep our state running.”
